The Mannequin Fabry Show

"Mannequin Fabry" is a short-film of humor and timelessness that invites the viewer to examine one's concept of beauty. Mannequins depicting the human form have evolved over time. These mannequins reflect the beauty of another age. I was drawn to them immediately and found the craftsmanship too beautiful to ignore. The first image is that of a group of antique mannequins in a store window, juxtaposed with reflections of a NYC neighborhood, creating a contradistinction between the past and the present. The viewer is then led inside to examine the mannequins more closely.

I did not pose, dress or undress the mannequins. I photographed them just as I had discovered them, in their natural light. I focused on angles and gestures to create a mood and suggest experience.

The photography was completed in December of 2003, however the formatting of the DVD was not completed until 2004.
